89% Increase in Searches For ‘Remote’ Jobs: Website Data

Remote work is getting more attention. Data from jobs portal Monster found an 89% increase in searches for “remote” between March 8 and March 29 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit.

Searches for “remote” jumped to the No. 7 slot among search terms after not even being in the top 30 before the March 8 to March 29 timeframe. In addition, the term “work from home” jumped to the No. 1 search term slot on Monster from the No. 10 slot during that same time period. “Healthcare” moved up to No. 4 after not being in the top 10.

Monster also noted a spike in telehealth nurse searches during the week of March 30 to April 5; these searches increased 71% from the prior week.

Banking job searches were impacted as well. Monster data found a 59% increase in new job listings for “loan interviewers and clerks” and loan officers during the week following the passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act.
