Job Description Your role in helping us shape the future: Gogo Commercial Aviation An Intelsat Company has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Software Engineer. You will help us design and develop solutions aimed at providing a means to manage and deploy the configuration specifics of aircraft based on airlines aircraft deployed technology fleet and installation requirements. This solution uses a combination of configuration management and cloud-based deployment using AWS which also requires an understanding of network / telecom protocols. Are you up to the challenge? The ideal candidate for this role will be responsible for design develop test automate and deliver features that enable and enhance the user experience of Gogo Airborne Broadband System. Must understand a broad view of the Gogo airborne network its interfaces to the ground and customer services and take design decisions that complement the evolving system software architecture. Can you drive these processes? Primarily responsible for the Airborne System Software design and development. Responsible for evolving and scaling the platform for any WAN technologies (ATG/ ATG4/ Ku/ 2Ku/ etc.) code and maintain scalable modular fault-tolerant and portable software for the Gogo Airborne Broadband System running on a target platform using Embedded Linux solutions. Perform technical design reviews code reviews unit test and system test reviews. Interact with the Systems Engineering & Architecture teams to understand and design for the evolving project requirements. Interface with the Product Management to understand the product roadmap and revenue-generating plans. Interface with the operations teams to understand the challenges to keep the business running. You should definitely have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or related discipline 7-10 years of relevant experience in the telecommunications and/or networking industry preferred. Hands-on experience of software development in an Embedded Linux environment and providing technical leadership of software teams. Strong experience and skill in Object Oriented Design and Implementation. Strong programming and debugging skills using either Java C C++ or Python. Polyglot programming experience is preferred. Strong knowledge of IP networking protocols and technologies Experience with database and web technologies. Virtualization and containerization (VirtualBox Docker KVM) experience and Microservice architecture and event-driven system design experience would be a big plus Experience in Agile software development (story & sprint) Commitment to excellence best practices and the continuous improvement of our products code base processes and tools. Experience with Continuous Integration and Test Automation methodology Knowledge of Service Measurements and Software System Performance would be a plus Experience with modern build environments such as Jenkins and Spinnaker would be a plus.
