Job Description Your role in helping us shape the future: You are a passionate Engineering Manager who will manage a team within a high-tech product company that is designing and developing our embedded and server software for aviation telecommunication products and services. This is a hands-on role and you will be involved in architecture design development testing and team management. You will apply sound judgment in planning and executing work in sprints meeting deadlines and communicating with the highest standards of professionalism. You will partner with teams to increase speed of deployment reliability and availability of applications consumed internally by development and operations teams. With your background in development and passion for automation you are excited to assume responsibility for the team of Software Development Engineers planning and designing software and web applications. You will oversee the developing and administering performance standards for the business unit. You will provide subject matter guidance to the team (of exempt and non-exempt employees) as required. Can you drive these processes? Lead product development from design to delivery including new programs enhancements and modifications; collaborate with Quality Assurance team on testing Own development and delivery of engineering deliverables in a fast-iterative Continuous Integration and deployment environment Work closely with engineers to develop systems with the right design and architecture Hire mentor manage and develop engineers to create high performing teams Collaborate with product management and stakeholders to understand their roadmaps and identify critical technical capabilities that need development Oversee planning and designing of software and web applications including new programs enhancements and modifications Develop and maintain a roadmap of initiatives that meets the business’s needs Own engineering practices and drive performance management of your team Ensure teams execute and adhere to technical design reviews code inspections and test reviews Perform administrative functions such as writing and reviewing reports providing metrics approving expenditures and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services You should definitely have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science Engineering or related discipline 10 - 15 years experience in developing innovative enterprise products and solutions with at least 3 - 5 years in a Managerial role Strong technical background in: Linux/Unix IP networking & routing protocols IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n Satellite/avionics/flight systems Experience writing software requirements software architecture and designing algorithms. Experience in managing both offshore and possibly onsite teams Experience in hiring developers conducting performance reviews developing technical and project proposals Must have a strong Project management and/or project lead experience Able to take ownership of problems and see them through to resolution Experience with Agile/Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) work environments It would be nice if you had: Application software development using Java or other web-centric technologies.
