General Summary

Provides technical expertise of software systems through sales presentations, product demonstrations, installation, and maintenance of company products. Assists the sales staff in assessing potential application of company products to meet customer needs and preparing detailed product specifications for the development and implementation of customer applications/solutions. Ensures that the application/solution is functioning according to specifications. May provide software development and consultation to prospective users and/or product capability assessment and validation. Assists customers with any questions, issues, debugging, or troubleshooting regarding software systems and applications.

The Responsibilities Of This Role Include

• Working independently with little supervision.
• Making decisions that are significant in impact; errors are not readily apparent due to the complexity of work process/product or time between decisions and results; errors typically result in significant expenditure of time, resources, and funds to correct.
• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels. May require strong negotiation and influence, communication to large groups or high-level constituents.
• Having a moderate amount of influence over key organizational decisions (e.g., is consulted by senior leadership to provide input on key decisions).
• Completing tasks that require multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; tasks require simultaneously executing multiple cognitive abilities and maintaining information in short- or long-term memory.
• Exercising exceptional creativity to innovate new ideas and develop innovative products/processes without established objectives or known parameters.
• Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or conflicting; advanced data analysis and interpretation skills are required.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Provides timely and accurate answers to highly complex customer inquiries.
• Guides less experienced engineers in responding to customer inquiries.
• Proactively identifies complex customer problems and recommends solutions that meet customer needs.
• Provides customer input to design engineering team regarding modifications to Qualcomm solutions and recommends design solutions.
• Performs root cause analyses on highly complex customer problems to identify underlying issue.
• Leads the integration of Qualcomm software to customer requirements.
• Works across the development teams to customize Qualcomm software to meet customer needs.
• Debugs complex issues in customer software systems and allocates resources as needed; works with leadership of development team to provide solutions.
• Serves as a technical expert to sales and marketing teams when discussing needs and requirements of medium priority customers.
• Drives technical conversation in design reviews, project reviews, and project meetings to monitor effectiveness of software functionality in meeting customer needs.
• Acts as a tech lead on large projects and owns the outcome of the project.
• Demonstrates expert knowledge of debugging techniques for a specific work area (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth), and shares this knowledge within and/or across teams.
• Owns one or more software modules and recommends appropriate modifications, enhancements, and future approach in light of customer needs.
• Oversees the publication (e.g., writing, reviewing, editing) of product technical documentation for one or more tech areas.
• Demonstrates Qualcomm products and offerings to large customers and convinces them of the technical value proposition of choosing Qualcomm over its competitors.
• Meets with other teams (e.g., sales, product management) to determine strategies regarding complex customer needs (e.g., pain points).
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
  
  

Education

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors - Computer Science, Bachelors - Engineering, Bachelors - Information Systems

Work Experiences

3+ years experience with debugging techniques., 4+ years experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc., 7+ years Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

1+ years working with operating budgets and/or project financials ,2+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above) ,3+ years experience in a customer-facing role. ,12+ years Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
