Job Function This position's primary responsibility is to manage Qualcomm In-house and third-party applications having Hybrid infrastructure. The technologies include Web technologies like Apache, Tomcat, IIS & WebLogic. The Cloud infrastructure like AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, Security Policies, ELB, Lambda etc.) and Google Cloud /Azure. DevOps technologies like Docker, Ansible/Chef and Jenkins. Monitoring and alerting tools like Splunk, SiteScope, New Relic and AppDynamics. As a Senior IT Engineer should lead efforts to incorporate open source tools, automation, and cloud resources to cut down on manual, repetitive tasks and to Implement continuous integration and delivery to limit manual testing and troubleshooting. This individual will be responsible for Installing, deploying, and managing, and supporting our PRD infrastructure that spans on-prem and on cloud. We are a distributed team with members in three geographic locations and this role will interact with members in all regions to define, develop, support processes. Intermediate Linux System Administration experience is required, along with broad and deep knowledge of compute, server, storage, and networking solutions. This position supports a highly technical engineering community and requires excellent communication skills, both at a very technical level as well as the ability to present to senior management. Interrupt driven and sometimes urgent tasks are to be expected with this exciting role. You will establish collaborative partnerships with both IT and engineering teams, and balance standard Qualcomm IT solutions with dynamic engineering needs. This also includes the ability to respond with urgency to requests. Taking Initiative - The ability to attack work activities with drive and energy, understand the impact of work on key metrics, and make decisions that are in the company's best interest. This includes not being afraid to initiate action before all the facts are known and driving value-added work tasks to completion. Technical Troubleshooting - Knowledge of systematic approaches to solving common technical problems (e.g., hardware, software, application, operational). This includes the ability to identify problems and report and escalate problems according to established procedures, and the ability to identify available information resources for troubleshooting. Preferred Qualifications Min 10 years of IT experience supporting: - Public/Private cloud platform like AWS (EKS, EC2, S3, EBS, VPC, Security Policies, ELB, Cloud formation, Lambda etc.) and good to have knowledge in Google Cloud /Azure. Knowledge in deployment automation using configuration management tools like Ansible and Chef and knowledge in Jenkins will be added advantage. Having knowledge in container management (Docker) and its orchestration tools like Kubernetes will be an added advantage. Knowledge in configure in application and system monitoring and alerting tools such as Splunk, SiteScope, New Relic and AppDynamics. Requires broad infrastructure background covering networking, operating system, and application topologies. Should have Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Intermediate Linux System Administration experience including scripting and automating day to day Sysadmin and DevOps tasks. Tomcat/Apache administration experience is a must. Application Server administration experience like WebLogic/Jboss/Tomcat is preferred. Nice-to-have Windows Server administration along with IIS knowledge/experience.
